STOP PROCRASTINATING ON THE FORCED DISAPPERANCE CASES

Persatuan Patriot Kebangsaan (Patriot) is disappointed with what seems to be procrastination and lack of will on the part of the authorities to bring to a closure of the case on forced disappearance of persons.

The Suhakam fact finding committee that comprised three very qualified and respected legal professionals led by Dato Mah Weng Kwai took 18 months of painstaking enquiry and came to their conclusion that the disappearance of Pastor Raymond Koh and Amri Che Mat was due to forced disappearance. That decision was announced on 3 April 2019. Now, nearly three months, the Minister of Home Affairs just announced the formation of a Special Task Force to investigate the disappearance of the missing persons.

The composition of the Special Task Force members does not inspire confidence of the people. There were no terms of reference mentioned. Is the role of the Special Task Force to start an enquiry all over again?

Patriot expects the Minister of Home Affairs to act decisively and bring to books the culprits responsible for the forced disappearance of persons, irrespective of their position and rank. If the minister fails to do so, then it is incumbent upon the Cabinet to act accordingly. No more procrastination.

Malaysians as a whole want a fast closure to this case. There should be no more feet dragging. Our nation has so much to do, like putting in order economic issues to prepare for an imminent world economic downturn and the hardship to come.
